Civil Engineering is considered to be the oldest engineering field. Civil Engineering includes the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the infrastructure that surrounds us and is the underpinning of our society. This infrastructure includes roads, airports, rail roads, buildings, bridges, water and irrigation schemes, sewers, drainage, factories, flood control, water supply, landfills, and many other facilities. In general, civil engineering affects our daily lives in many ways. The department teaches many courses relevant to vast field of Civil Engineering including Applied Mechanics, Surveying, Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics, Irrigation Systems, Soil Mechanics, Engineering Construction and Structures, Environment Engineering and other related subjects. Theory classes of different subjects are complemented with tutorials and laboratory work for which adequate facilities and equipment have been established. In addition, study tours are arranged for students to the sites such as barrages and irrigation systems, mechanics of architecture, soil mechanics, quantity survey and estimation, road construction works, drainage schemes, etc., to expose them to practical work being actually implemented.
Career Prospects
After completing the diploma, students can work in Pakistan Army, Civil Aviation Authority, KRL, Atomic Energy Commission, CDA, RDA, NGOs, Bahria Town, Geo technical, Highways and Railways and other construction companies.
Higher Education
Also students will be eligible for BSc, BE and B. Tech. degrees in the relevant fields from reputed universities (Government & Private sectors) all around the globe.
